The
simplicity of Do-It Yourself installation is
the feature. No
need of Hammer, Nails or
finding wall studs as
with usual type Moldings.
CeilingMate
simply glues in place with most any construction adhesive. Always
overestimate
the amount of material required. Add 8" to
12" for each corner and to compensate possible cutting error.
Molding is supplied in 4’ lengths. Shipping
damage is easily
correct at the time of installation
with Polyinstafil equivalent.
1.
Tape Measure.
2.
Pencil/Ball point pen.
3.
Hand Saw. – Any reasonably sharp
fine toothed saw will do.
4.
Angle Square or Mitre Box – If
you’re somewhat adept
with a hand saw you’ll be able to use the 45 degree angle
of the angle square. Otherwise use an oversize mitre box or
anything that’ll help make an
approximate 45 degree angle cut. Anyone with an inexpensive
compound mitre saw can easily construct a suitable large mitre
box. You needn’t be exact.
5.
Sliding T-Bevel - for calculating obtuse angles if you have any.
6.
Putty Knife – About 1-1/2" width for smoothing
joint filler.
7.
Masking Tape – 2" wide green painters
tape is preferable.
8.
Sanding Block or folded sheet of coarse sand paper.
9.
Nylon Paint Brush – Any inexpensive 4" or 5" paint
brush will be satisfactory.
10.
3" Texture Paint Roller – If
you can’t find a 3" roller
you can use one end of a
conventional 9" roller. Select a soft cellulose composition
type roller, usually in blue, green or purple for light texture.
For heavy texture, choose
a yellow coarse loose looped roller.
11.
Caulking Gun – 300
ml tube size.
12.
Adhesive – Three 300 ml tubes will
complete a 12’ sq. room.
Many general purpose
and construction adhesives are compatible with polystyrene.
e.g. LePage PL300, DAP Panel & Foam, or Macco Liquid
Nails. All have been proven effective.
For larger mouldings and difficult applications, LePage
No More Nails Super Strength or Loctite Foamboard and
Ceiling Tile Adhesive
may
be more effective.
These seem stronger, set up more quickly and you’ll
probably need less adhesive.
13.
Caulking – White
Latex or Acrylic Latex – 1 – 300 ml
tube, should be sufficientfor all joints in a 12’ room.
14.
Joint and Crack Filler – Polyinstafil,
Dap Dry Dex or equivalent – 250ml
should be sufficient for a 12’ sq. room.
15.
Roll-On Texture Paint - 4L is adequate for 2 rooms e.g. King,
Behr, Home Hardware, LePage,
etc.
